The Crisis Intervention Center of Louisiana, long knowns for its suicide prevention hotline name THE PHONE, has consolidated efforts with The Bridge Center. This consolidation of efforts is a big step in the creation of a collaborative environment where nonprofits with similar missions and limited money work together to effectively serve the community.

THE PHONE offers crisis counseling for people who are suffering from emotional pain, street ore the aftereffects of a traumatic experience. People in distress can reach counselors by calling on THE PHONE, texting or online chat. 

The Bridge Center has contracted with VIALINK, Inc. to service all crisis hotlines, including CICLA’s most high-profile line, THE PHONE.  VIALINK offers a 24/7 contact center with call line, text and chat functionality. Seventy-five percent of people operating the contact center have a counseling or social work masters-level degree. Each individual who contacts VIALINK is provided a referral, if deemed appropriate, and a follow-up call.

Studies show telephonic crisis intervention is highly effective at reducing use of emergency services. Crisis intervention is for everyone, regardless of insurance coverage or socioeconomic status, and not just those suffering from chronic mental illness or substance abuse issues.
